The US Federal Communications Commission announced the need to triple the cost of replacing Chinese-made mobile communications equipment.

The United States has long been fighting against Huawei and ZTE, which are recognized as a threat to national security. Since September 2020, the United States has been actively engaged in the replacement of Chinese mobile communication equipment. Initially, the commission stated that $1.8 billion should be allocated for dismantling. A few months later, $1.9 billion was allocated by Congress for this purpose. However, the costs will have to be increased to $5.6 billion.

The Federal Communications Commission has received about two hundred applications from cellular operators who have developed their own plans to dismantle and replace the equipment of companies that pose a threat to US national security. The amount of $ 5.6 billion is not final, since the acceptance of applications has already ended, although the consideration will continue for some time.
