Dozens of current Xiaomi smartphones will receive Material You dynamic themes along with Android 12 - this is a new requirement from Google

Xiaomi will be forced to add dynamic system color change to all its smartphones that will receive Android 12 in the global market.

What is known

Material You is a new design language that debuted in the Android 12 operating system. It provides a dynamic change in the color palette depending on the installed wallpaper. Not all companies implement this innovation in their smartphones, and Google decided to fight it.

The California giant is ready to deprive GMS of all devices that will be running Android 12 without dynamic themes. The new rules come into effect on March 14 this year. As for Xiaomi, this innovation will affect several dozen smartphones that are available outside of China.

Recently we wrote that Android 12 with MIUI 13 will be available for more than a hundred models of the Beijing-based company. Some of them are sold in China; and so does not have Google services. Therefore, the arguments of the "corporation of good" will not play here.

Outside of China, MIUI 13 based on Android 12 is promised for more than five dozen smartphones. The list includes both flagships and budget solutions like the Redmi Note 9.
