During the first Nintendo Direct of 2022, Aspyr Interactive announced that they were porting Star Wars: The Force Unleashed to the Nintendo Switch. Fourteen years after its 2008 release, the Star Wars game will take on new life with this port.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and its sequel told the story of Starkiller, a secret apprentice of Darth Vader who was ordered to hunt down a Jedi after Order 66. The second game, while less successful, continued Starkiller's story and produced what seemed like an interesting ending. However, when Disney acquired Lucasfilm and thus Star Wars in 2014, the third installment was canceled as The Force Unleashed was relegated to the non-canon segment known as Star Wars Legends. So the finale of Starkiller's story may never see a sequel.

But now, fans will be able to relive the beginning of Starkiller's story when The Force Unleashed releases on Nintendo Switch on April 20, 2022. The port will cost players $20. The game will feature a one-on-one "Dueling Mode" where players can go head-to-head in lightsaber combat by choosing from 27 different characters.

The game was originally released in 2008 for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, and later on Wii.
