Robness, an American artist, was able to sell an image of a trash can in a non-fungible token format for a quarter of a million dollars.

What is known

Robness found the picture on the World Wide Web. He created an animated image out of it, adding some psychedelic effects. The final picture was called 64 Gallon Toter. The artist created an NFT from the animation and sold the token on the SuperRare platform.

In an interview, Robness notes that his work is an expression of rage about a number of things. However, this had to wait two years. At first, the platform removed the image, "not perceiving it as a work of art." Two years later, everything changed, and SuperRare restored NFT.

The trash can became very popular, after which one of the collectors contacted Robness personally and wanted to purchase an NFT. The cost of the token is $250,000.
