Sony has announced a unique and rewarding Horizon Forbidden West campaign in which Sony plants trees in real life to help with reforestation projects across the US.

The campaign is called "Play and Plant". Every time players unlock the Reach Fear trophy in-game before March 25, Sony will plant a tree to help save the planet. This trophy is unlocked at the very start of the game, so Sony will quickly hit the 288,000 tree cap needed for this campaign.

“To celebrate the release of Horizon Forbidden West, we want to do something to help nature with you. Just like Aloy is fighting to save the Earth in the game, we can do something together to help our planet,” Sony said.

The trees will be planted at three different sites in the US. In Douglas Woodland in Wisconsin, on private land in California, and in Torreya State Park in Florida. The Douglas County Forest needs more trees to help conserve rare wildlife and plant species, while Torreya State Park is seeing the impact of natural disasters and deforestation on the longleaf pine population.

Horizon Forbidden West releases on February 18 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
