The Last of Us TV series will not release this year. Filming in full swing
HBO's upcoming series The Last of Us won't premiere this year, according to HBO CEO Casey Bloys in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
When asked when to expect a release date for the series, Bloys replied: "Filming is currently taking place in Canada. We haven't announced a release date yet. But definitely not in 2022. Filming in Calgary".
The series will star Pedro Pascal from The Mandalorian as Joel, while Bella Ramsay from Game of Thrones will play Ellie. Neil Druckmann, creative director of the game series, is an executive producer and co-writer of the TV show, while Chernobyl's Craig Mazin also serves as a writer and executive producer.
The upcoming series is part of a larger effort by Sony to create film and television adaptations of its games.
