Global foldable smartphone market up 264.3% - Samsung remains strong leader
Analyst company International Data Corporation says that the international market for foldable smartphones has more than tripled in a year and will continue to grow over the next four years.
What is known
Companies shipped 7.1 million foldable smartphones in 2021, up from 1.9 million units in 2020. In the overall structure, this is still a very modest 0.5%. According to International Data Corporation, by 2025 the market will grow at a compound annual rate of 69.9% and will reach 27.6 million devices.
Samsung is the clear leader, but analysts haven't released any hard numbers to back this up. In their opinion, the South Korean company has succeeded due to the "correct" prices. Recall that in the third quarter of 2021, Samsung took over 90% of foldable smartphones.
