Unexpectedly: Huawei is preparing a smartphone Mate 40E Pro 2022 with a Kirin 9000L processor and 5G support
In March last year, Huawei introduced the Mate 40E 5G smartphone (pictured), and now it is preparing to release a more advanced version - Mate 40E Pro 2022. Interesting information about the processor has appeared on the network.
What to expect?
Because of US sanctions prevent Huawei from using processors (primarily Qualcomm) with 5G support, as well as continue to produce its own Kirin chips. As early as last year, various insiders said that the company was working on this problem. And, apparently, some progress has been made.
So, according to the leak, Huawei Mate 40E Pro 2022 will receive a Kirin 9000L processor and, most importantly, will support 5G connectivity. According to insiders, the HiSilicon Kirin 9000L chipset design will be similar to the Kirin 9000 and 9000E, but with reduced GPU and NPU performance. It may also be a simplified version of the Kirin 9000 and 9000E in terms of display and camera performance.
However, it appears to be handled using 5nm Samsung EUV process technology. In terms of configuration, the Kirin 9000L SoC also has a much smaller number of cores in the GPU section and only one large NPU core, while the Kirin 9000 and 9000E feature two cores inside the Neural Processing Unit. In addition, the Kirin 9000L will be clocked down and run at 2.86GHz.
Huawei Mate 40E Pro 2022 based on Kirin 9000L is expected to be released next month along with Huawei P50E smartphone.
