Batman Director Matt Reeves Confirms There Will Be No R-Rated Version Of The Movie
As revealed in a recent interview with Den of Geek, the upcoming Batman film director Matt Reeves has said the film will not receive an R rating, but was originally planning to receive a PG-13.
When it was announced that The Batman would be rated PG-13, the news surprised many fans. Ttrailers for the film portrayed caped crusader Robert Pattinson as an incredibly vindictive and brutal vigilante, and recent interviews with the actor have confirmed that his take on The Dark Knight will be out of the box. This led some fans to believe that there might be an R-rated version of the film. However, Reeves himself has now clarified the rating, stating that he has always wanted to make the film with a PG-13 rating.
Reeves said, "In my opinion, the film was always meant to be the gritty, edgy, noir, thrilling spectacle that PG-13 has always been. It has always been that way, but I always knew that we would push the boundaries of what was possible, and therefore we did not need to cut anything.” As to whether there was an alternate version of The Batman, Reeves said, "There's not some kind of special cut in this movie that says, 'Oh yeah, here's the R rating you so desperately wanted.'
The Batman will premiere in theaters on March 3, 2022.
