Xiaomi fined again for deceptive advertising - this time because of the Mi Band 5 NFC bracelet
At the end of last year, Xiaomi already received a fine for false advertising of the Redmi K30 5G smartphone. Now a similar story has happened to a Chinese company, but with fitness tracker Mi Band 5 NFC.
What happened?
The fine was issued by the Beijing Haidian District Market Supervision Bureau for inaccurate description of product functions and violation of the Advertising Law. The reason was the declared function 24 hour sleep monitoring on the advertising page of the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 NFC version.
So, in fact, the bracelet can control two types of sleep - long night and short-term. But as it turns out, if your night's sleep is less than 60 minutes, the system simply won't record it. This also applies to short-term sleep, but if its duration is less than 20 minutes.
It is not clear whether this information is really so important for someone, but, nevertheless, the function does not work properly, as the manufacturer promises. For this, a fine of 80,000 yuan was issued, which is more than $12,600.
