Samsung becomes the world's TV market leader for the 16th year in a row
According to research company Omdia, Samsung has become the leader in the global TV market in 2021.
Impressive
The most interesting thing is that the South Korean manufacturer becomes No. 1 16th year in a row. Last year, its market share in terms of sales amounted to 19.8%, and in terms of money - 29.5%.
Samsung first led the market in 2006 with the launch of the Bordeaux TV. In 2009, the company introduced LED TVs. In 2011, Samsung introduced smart TVs, and in 2017 - the first line QLED TVs. In 2018, the firm introduced its first 8K QLED TV. Last year, the company launched its first Neo QLED TVs (Mini-LED) and Micro LED. The first one debuted at CES 2022 QD TV (QD OLED), which is superior in image quality to conventional OLED TVs and reduces the risk of burnout.
Over the past five years, Samsung has been trying to increase sales of TVs premium class, and the QLED line helped her a lot with this. Since the launch of QLED TVs in 2017, Samsung has shipped 26 million units. According to Omdia report, in 2021 alone, the world leader in TV manufacturing shipped 9.43 million QLED TVs.
