Unreal Engine 5 is close to a full release
The game engine Unreal Engine 5 is still under testing, but it is already close to release. Epic Games has announced that it has moved from early access to the preview version.
The preview version is close to final, but there may still be unstable elements and other problems. Epic recommends not using the preview version for full-scale commercial production, but it is great for experimenting with new tools. If developers want to move their current game to UE5, they'd better limit themselves to a copy of the project and not abandon the previous version of the engine altogether.
The preview version of Unreal Engine 5 also began to invite people who work outside the gaming industry, such as teams that create special effects for movies. True, Epic has another caveat: working in UE5 is very similar to working in UE4, but some new features (such as Lumen and Nanite) do not hone integration into non-video game processes.
Among the novelties in the preview version of Unreal Engine 5 are mentioned:
-
Initial support for Large World Coordinates simplifies the creation of giant worlds.
-
Features for animation - Distance Matching, Pose Warping, IK Rig, IK Retargeter and templates for animation drawings.
-
Various improvements in Nanite, Lumen, Virtual shadow maps, Path Tracer, World Partition, One File Per Actor, Control Rig and MetaSounds.
