Call of Duty: Warzone getting Godzilla and King Kong crossover in May
While leaks pointed at this over the past few months, Activision announced that Godzilla and King Kong were heading to Call of Duty . It’s a cross with Godzilla vs. Kong ,, which is a little unusual, considering that the movie was first released more than a year ago. However, the trailer has enough high-end CG for it to be easy to forget.
We don’t yet know how Operation Monarch will be implemented. We may be seeing a parallel storyline than the movie’s trailer, with the beasts fighting each other. This suggests we might see the film as a continuation of the original plot, and not a free for all that only happens to include the characters.
In a world overrun by Fortnite and Minecraft, crossovers might not be what they once were, but given Activision’s tendency to stray from Call of Duty’s grounded roots, it seems like there’s a lot of potential for something that feels as much like the movie as it does the game.
According to the trailer, “the battle begins” on May 11.
