The “sweet” name of Android 14 U has become known
In the coming days, the first beta version of Android 13 should be released. However, Google developers are already actively working on the next version of the operating system - Android 14 U.
"Sweet" name
Recall that Google used to call versions of Android by a dessert name, and this tradition was maintained for a whole decade, when each version increased along with the alphabet. But with the launch of Android 10, the company decided to abandon the "sweet" prefixes in the name. However, they remained in internal code names.
According to the leak, Android 14's codename is "Upside Down Cake". It is a pie that is baked upside down in a pan with the filling (often sliced fruit such as apple or pineapple) placed in the bottom of the pan. Then the dough is poured over the filling, placed in the oven and baked.
Before that, there were the following names of desserts:
- Android 1.5: Cupcake
- Android 1.6: Donut (donut)
- Android 2.0: Eclair (eclair)
- Android 2.2: Froyo (frozen yogurt)
- Android 2.3: Gingerbread (gingerbread)
- Android 3.0: Honeycomb
- Android 4.0: Ice Cream Sandwich
- Android 4.1: Jelly Bean (chewable)
- Android 4.4: KitKat
- Android 5.0: Lollipop (lollipop)
- Android 6.0: Marshmallow (Marshmallow)
- Android 7.0: Nougat (nougat)
- Android 8.0: Oreo
- Android 9: Pie
- Android 10: Quince Tart (kind of sweet pie)
- Android 11: Red Velvet Cake
- Android 12: Snow Cone (popsicles in a cone)
- Android 13: Tiramisu (tiramisu)
