Russia allowed to illegally import goods from Apple, Samsung, Tesla, Jaguar, Sony, etc.

Russia, where many large foreign companies have closed the road due to the war with Ukraine, does not seem to believe in the myth of import substitution, so it allowed the so-called parallel import of foreign goods, including gadgets.

What does it mean?

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has prepared an order on parallel (read - gray) imports, which allows you to import goods into the country without the permission of the copyright holder, the sale of which has begun in other countries of the world. The list includes the following products:

  • Smartphones and other devices from Apple, Asus, HP, Panasonic, Samsung, Nokia, Sony, Intel, etc., household appliances Electrolux, Miele, Siemens, Dyson, etc., game consoles X-Box, Play Station, Nintendo.
  • Automotive brands and materials, as well as related products related to them: Tesla, Land Rover, Jeep, Jaguar, Chrysler, Bently, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Dodge, Hummer, Rover, GMC, Freightliner, Peterbilt, Kenworth, Mack.
  • Engines and parts for them Volvo, Hyundai, Nissan, Volkswagen, etc., tires Michelin, Goodyear, Continental, Bridgestone.
  • Equipment for various industries (mining, electric power, railway and shipping transport, agriculture, timber processing, and others).

How they are going to import it is not clear. It seems that they also “forgot” about the official guarantee and support. But one thing is clear: statements that the Russian Federation is not afraid of sanctions, and cars, engines for them, iPhones and other goods will be replaced with products of local brands - another fairy tale.
