The Chinese drone manufacturer DJI announced the suspension of its activities in Ukraine and Russia.

Why?

The company said in a statement:

“DJI is conducting an internal reassessment of compliance requirements in various jurisdictions. Pending the ongoing review, DJI will temporarily suspend all of its activities in Russia and Ukraine. We are engaging with customers, partners and other stakeholders regarding the temporary suspension of business operations in the affected territories.”

A few days earlier, DJI issued a press release emphasizing that its drones are not designed for military use. In particular:

  • DJI does not endorse or sell products for military use.
  • DJI does not provide after-sales service for products identified as military use.
  • DJI strongly opposes attempts to attach weapons to products.
  • DJI has refused to make any adjustments or modifications that would allow the products to be used for military purposes.

“We want to reiterate a position we have long held that our products are designed to improve people's lives and benefit the world, and we absolutely condemn any use of our products to cause harm. DJI only produced products for civilian use; they are not intended for military use, ”the company emphasized.
