Smartphones built for gaming come with serious hardware, flashy designs, active cooling, and sometimes extra buttons to enhance the overall gaming experience. But what if it doesn't meet your requirements? Make it yourself!

How?

The guys from the Geekerwan YouTube channel decided to turn an ordinary smartphone into a real gaming monster with their own hands. They took the used Xiaomi Mi 9 as a basis - a three-year-old flagship smartphone with a cracked back panel, but at a nice price (about $ 100).

The idea is that a device with a once-top Snapdragon 855 processor has enough power to run modern mobile games and can be bought used quite cheaply. True, there were no modifications.

So, enthusiasts tripled the battery, and as a result, its capacity increased to 9900 mAh. Keep in mind that this requires knowledge of unlocking bootloaders and flashing non-original software.

The next step was to overclock the chipset. Moreover, the firmware of the secondary core even allows you to overclock the display to work with a frame rate higher than that provided by the manufacturer.

Next, I removed the camera module, installed a cooling fan, and added thermal paste. Everything is packaged in a 3D printed case.

What came of it? Judge for yourself: in Genshin Impact, before modifications with maximum settings, the system produced an average of 39 frames per second. With the new mods, it was possible to achieve an average of 50 frames per second.
