Google sends out May update to Pixels with a fix for weak haptics on the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro
Today is the first Monday in the month. We are therefore treated to an Android software update by Google. While the May update contains all of the security updates, it also includes some Pixel-specific features.
The most important of those probably has to do with the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro devices and their haptics. These owners noticed that the notification vibrations on their phones were less responsive to last month’s update. This should now be addressed. It shouldn’t be broken, but it is what you have to do. And it only took a month.
Leaving sarcasm aside, let’s also note that the May update comes with a fix for an issue “occasionally causing display to wake without user interaction”, as well as a fix for an issue causing “launcher crash after restarting device in certain conditions”. Both of these fixes are applicable to Pixels still supported.
As usual with Google’s over-the-air rollout, it might take several days or more to reach all devices in the wild. The new build number is SP2A.220505. 002 for all supported models.
