DJI has unveiled a new mini-drone that aims at the professional level - DJI Mini 3 Pro. It weighs 249g and is a more premium device than its predecessor.

What do they offer?

The drone has a new 1/1.3-inch sensor with a bright f/1.7 aperture that should work better in any light. The sensor is a 48MP module and can shoot in full 48MP resolution or in 12MP mode. The 24mm lens itself is the same width as the mini 2 but narrower than the 20mm lens of the Air 2S.

On the video recording side, there are improvements: the new model can record 4K video at up to 60fps and 4K HDR video at up to 30fps. In addition, you can shoot H.264 and H.265 video at up to 150 Mbps (compared to 100 Mbps on the mini 2). The video has a zoom mode - 2x in 4K and 4x in 1080p. Slow motion is either in 4K at 60 fps or 1080 at 120 fps.

The DJI Mini 3 Pro's 3-axis gimbal can rotate vertically to create TikTok and Reels-style videos (and photos) in portrait mode.

Obstacle avoidance is also claimed - thanks to motion sensors forward, backward and down. These allow the DJI Mini 3 Pro to support autonomous flight modes such as Spotlight 2.0, Point of Interest 3.0, Active Track 4.0, and MasterShots. There is also Hyperlapse.

Battery life (compared to its predecessor) is improved, but not by much - 34 minutes with the standard Intelligent Flight Battery instead of 31 minutes. The Fly More Combo includes an optional Intelligent Flight Battery Plus which extends flight time to 47 minutes, but also increases aircraft weight and requires a faster DJI 30W charger.

How much?

The DJI Mini 3 Pro is on sale today. There are three versions to choose from: the DJI Mini 3 Pro with the standard RC-N1 controller for 829 euros, the DJI Mini 3 Pro with the new RC controller for 999 euros, and the drone without a controller for 739 euros.

Recall that recently DJI has suspended its activities in Ukraine and Russia.
