Samsung may cut smartphone production by 30 million units this year
Samsung is expected to produce fewer smartphones in 2022, due to rising inflation and component shortages. The war in Ukraine is also causing production problems for the company. According to a new report from a reputable South Korean news outlet, цhile Samsung will still produce devices for all price points, from entry-level to flagships, the number of phones produced will decline by 30 million.
Samsung initially planned to produce 310 million smartphones by 2022, but recent developments have forced the Korean tech conglomerate to lower its target to 280 million units. Despite record first-quarter revenue and roughly 73.7 million smartphone shipments worldwide, Samsung will have to adjust its targets. Other big players such as Apple are also reportedly cutting production, with Cupertino aiming to reduce iPhone SE units by 20%.
