Gourmet: iPhone 14 Pro smartphones along with iOS 16 will receive the Always-On Display function
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reveals in a new report that the upcoming iPhone 14 Pro will feature an Always-On Display.
What does it mean?
New features in iOS 16 are rumored to include an improved lock screen with “wallpapers that have widget-like capabilities,” as well as improvements to the lock screen, including an always-on display mode (when the screen shows the necessary information about the date, time, notifications etc. without significant energy consumption).
Last year, iPhone 13 Pro models were rumored to have an always-on display, but that feature was apparently scrapped before the devices were officially released. According to Gurman, Apple continues to work on this feature, and the two older models - iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max - will receive Always-On Display mode.
It is also expected that the ProMotion displays used in the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will be able to change the refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz. However, Gurman warned that the feature may not be final by the time the iPhone 14 lineup is announced in September.
