Mi-17 helicopters from the USA fly to Ukraine: why does Russia “burn out” because of this
Head of the Office of the President Andriy Yermak reports that the United States is transferring Mi-17 helicopters to Ukraine.
“Mi-17s for Ukraine are already being loaded at the US Air Force base. Good birds,” Yermak wrote on Telegram.
By the way, back in mid-April, US Department of Defense spokesman John Kirby said that America would transfer Mi-17 helicopters to Ukraine, which were previously intended to be sent to Afghanistan: “These 11 Mi-17s were intended for Afghanistan. They come from our stocks. Now we are sending them to Ukraine.”
The fact is that these are helicopters that the United States initially purchased for transfer to the Afghans. But after the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan in August, America decided to supply them to Ukraine. In Russia, the hype has already risen because of this, and they are waiting for explanations from the US Presidential Administration on this matter. But so far no answer has been received (and it is unlikely that they will).
For reference: Mi-17 is a multi-purpose military transport helicopter designed for landing, combat and special missions. They are also designed to destroy lightly armored vehicles, destroy targets and manpower of the enemy (using missiles, small arms).
