At the end of February, when the Russian army was trying to take Kyiv, a 15-year-old teenager using an unmanned aerial vehicle DJI helped to destroy a convoy of vehicles heading to the capital of Ukraine.

What is known

The Ukrainian Defense Forces knew about the approaching enemy, but could not accurately determine the coordinates. To do this, they asked for help from civilians. Andrey Pokrasa, 15, used his quadcopter to spot the convoy.

“They [the military] provided us with information about where the Russian convoy might be located. Our goal was to find the exact coordinates and pass them on to the soldiers,” Andrey Pokrasa

So that the Russians would not trace the place of residence, the guy went to the field with his father. Already there, he launched a drone into the air, discovered Russian equipment and sent it GPS-coordinates of the military along with photographs. After that, the column was covered with artillery fire 40 km from Kyiv.

It was one of the largest columns moving along the Zhytomyr highway. It was possible to detect it due to the fact that the driver of one of the trucks often turned on the headlights. The boy’s participation in this operation was confirmed by his parents, the commander of the unmanned reconnaissance department and the head of the All-Ukrainian Federation of Drone Owners Taras Troyak.

Andriy Pokrasa bought his first drone last year with profits from cryptocurrency trading. Which drone was used to search for the Russian convoy is not specified, but in the video the boy is holding a quadcopter DJI Mavic 3 Pro.
