Polestar will launch it's first electric SUV, Polestar 3, in October 2022
Polestar has confirmed that the Polestar 3, their new electric performance vehicle, will be launched in October. The photo above is our first glimpse at the new Polestar SUV, which will have a range of over 600 kilometers. A new film and an initial glimpse of the car were announced as part of the confirmation. Customers may purchase Polestar 3 on day of premiere in launch markets. Production is scheduled to begin in early 2023 in the United States and China.
Polestar 3 will have a best-in-class LiDAR sensor from Luminar and centralized NVIDIA computing power, as well as autonomous highway piloting. Polestar 3 will come with a twin-motor propulsion system and a large battery at launch, with a range objective of more than 600 kilometers (WLTP).
“Polestar 3 is the SUV for the electric age. Our design identity evolves with this high-end large luxury EV, with a strong, individual brand character. With this car, we bring the ‘sport’ back to the SUV, staying true to our performance roots. This is a major milestone for our company, one that boosts our growth trajectory and takes us into our next phase,” says Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO.
Polestar has set a goal to introduce a new vehicle every year for the next three years, beginning with Polestar 3, and to expand its presence in at least 30 global territories by the end of 2023. This is consistent with Polestar's aim of ten-fold growth from worldwide sales of approximately 29,000 units in 2021 to about 290,000 units by the end of 2025.
