Futuristic unmanned Einride electric trucks will take to public roads in the US

Swedish company Einride with the support of General Electric Appliances will release electric trucks on public roads in the United States.

What is known

Einride began to develop unmanned vehicles from scratch, so they are deprived of a cockpit for the driver. The first tests of unmanned trucks will be held on the road between the plant and the warehouse General Electric Appliances in Tennessee. The distance is 1.5 km. The start of testing is scheduled for the third quarter of 2022.

The pilot project will end two weeks after launch. Operators of the company will monitor the movement of trucks Einride. They will help cars park in warehouses and move in reverse. At the same time, in most situations, vehicles will work autonomously.

The trucks are equipped with cameras and lidar to operate at night in snow, fog, hail and rain. However, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has given permission for Einride drones. travel only during the day in clear weather.
