Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, in a new edition of his Power On newsletter, talked about the new gadgets that Apple is preparing.
What to expect?
According to Gurman's forecasts, in addition to the recently introduced M2, the company is working on several more branded chips and devices based on them:
- Mac mini with M2 and M2 Pro chips
- new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with M2 Pro and M2 Max
- Mac Pro with M2 Ultra and M2 Extreme chips
Gurman says that after the M2-powered Mac series, the first M3 Mac series will include an updated 13-inch MacBook Air, an all-new 15-inch MacBook Air, a new iMac, and possibly a new 12-inch laptop.
In addition, Apple is developing several additional devices that may be released later this year and beyond:
- Apple TV codenamed J255 with A14 chip and increased RAM to 4 GB
- new HomePod codenamed B620 with the same S8 chip that will appear in the Apple Watch Series 8. It is expected to be closer to the original HomePod in terms of size and sound quality than the new HomePod mini, and will also get an updated display on top (there was even talk of multi-touch functionality)
- AR/VR headset which can have M2 chip and 16GB RAM
- iPad Pro models with M2 chip
- new budget iPad with A14 chip and USB-C port
- new AirPods Pro
Gurman also reiterated that he expects Apple to release a large 14 to 15-inch iPad within the next two years.
