The Raspberry Pi Pico debuted last year for $4, and it's now being updated to include wireless connectivity with $6 price. In fact, three new versions of the Pico are being introduced today by Raspberry Pi. There's also a $5 Pico H and a $7 Pico WH, both of which have pre-populated headers in addition to the main $6 Pico W. The RP2040 microcontroller, which is comprised of a dual-core Arm Cortex-M0+ processor running at 133MHz with 264kB of internal RAM and up on off-chip flash memory, remains at the heart of all of them.

The Pico W's wireless chipset is the Infineon CYW43439, which provides 2.4GHz 802.11n connectivity. The same chip also has Bluetooth Classic and Bluetooth Low Energy support, but Raspberry Pi hasn't enabled them on the new board (yet). Those already utilizing the original Pico will be glad to hear that the Pico W maintains pin compatibility with its predecessor.
