Google TV to make signing into Netflix and other streaming services automatic
By providing automatic sign-ins into subscription services upon installation, Google may be attempting to make its TV platform more user-friendly. 9to5Google says that this information is tucked away in the newest TV app version's code and states that "apps for your subscriptions will also be installed. App information from devices linked to your Google Account will be used to set up and sign in to these apps on your TV."
It's certainly possible that the credentials were copied from a single account, even if there are several accounts linked to the same Google account. This could imply that you're using your Google account, such as user names and passwords, to automatically fill in and sign into various services like Netflix, Spotify, newspapers, and other subscriptions. Even if you log into your Google account and move all of your applications, you'll still have to sign in each service separately because it makes sense for things like online banking. You'd want your shows and albums to be ready as soon as possible when setting up your TV or media box.
The most likely option is to program the operation so that it can be done automatically. If a business can successfully automate such a process without sacrificing quality or timeliness, then more people will visit Google and pay for advertising. Larger app companies might have bigger ambitions in terms of scope and scale, but smaller businesses may struggle with the time involved.
Given the ever-increasing number of subscription services we must manage, a sign-in automation process like this would provide Google a competitive edge and other companies could follow suit, ushering in the brave new era of not having to remember login credentials for tens of subscriptions on end.
