Some creators now can post their NFTs on Facebook
On Facebook, non-fungible tokens have arrived. According to TechCrunch, Meta has begun allowing select creators in the US to post digital collectibles on their profiles. While it's unclear if and when the functionality will be expanded to additional users — Meta dubbed the launch a "slow rollout" — Mark Zuckerberg previously said that Meta would bring NFT support on Facebook testing. Facebook's new product manager Navdeep Singh has published photographs on Twitter of how NFT integration would look on Facebook, and like Instagram's implementation, creators will have a digital collectibles tab on their profile where they can display their NFTs.
Users will be able to purchase collectibles by searching and following their favorite creators, as well as by viewing their postings as status updates that they can react to. When you click on them, you'll see information about the artwork. According to Decrypt, Facebook will enable users to link their compatible digital wallets with the website, much like Instagram does. Facebook currently supports NFTs created on Ethereum and Polygon, but it will support Solana and Flow NFTs soon.
In May, Meta began testing NFT integration on Instagram, promising additional associated features such as the ability for users to post their pieces as augmented reality stickers in Stories. Based on the platforms' userbases, NFTs may be a better fit for Instagram than Facebook, but Meta is committed to integrating them into its services. "We're starting building for NFTs across our family of apps," Zuckerberg wrote in the announcement of digital collectibles on Instagram.
