Apple recently released the third beta version of iOS 16, which introduced lockdown mode, aka Lockdown Mode. Now the company is looking for volunteers to try to crack it.

What are they promising?

So, Apple is promising the highest bonus in the industry - $2 million - for hacking Lockdown Mode. As a result, the hacker gets a great cash reward, and the manufacturer gets information about vulnerabilities and weaknesses. But that, of course, is assuming that someone succeeds in hacking the system.

As a reminder, Lockdown Mode is an extremely strict security protection mode that must be activated if the user suspects that the smartphone has malware installed. This mode will help protect the owner from hacking, surveillance and identity theft. When enabled, most apps and web services on the iPhone will be inaccessible, users will not be able to open links and photos from unknown users, and some FaceTime and iMessage features will be limited.

Lockdown mode will be available for developers to test this summer, with an official release coming this fall.
