Another secret has been revealed in NieR: Automata. Is it fake?

At the beginning of 2021, the Japanese account of the NieR series confirmed that they had found the last secret in NieR: Automata. However, as the Internet joked, "if Yoko Taro says the sky is blue, it's worth double-checking." Because now fans are surprised to see another Automata secret.

Closer to the end, the player gets to the "Replica City" location. It turns out that there you can walk up to one of the bare walls, press the interaction button and open the door. After that, the main character enters a corridor with stairs and can go to some church.

But it is not even the Easter egg itself that is interesting, but the story of how it is searched for:

  • On June 11, user Sadfutago asked the question on the NieR subreddit: “How do I get to the church? Hi, I'm new to reddit. I'm wondering how to get to NieR: Automata's church.”
  • No one understood which church it was about, so on June 15, Sadfutago posted a couple of photos from the TV screen. There really was A2 (one of the heroines of NieR: Automata) in some church. Sadfutago was asking why he could get into that zone and his friend couldn't. People still did not understand what kind of location it was.
  • On June 18, Sadfutago showed a "screenshot" of him walking up to a wall and opening a door in it in Replica City. The subreddit community was surprised and began to lively discuss the find. At that time, many were inclined to believe that it was a fake - everything looked too suspicious.
  • Sadfutago is back on July 25th, with a full video captured directly from the screen. This time he not only opened the door, but stepped inside it, revealing the corridor inside.

And that's where the discussion finally came to a head: no one recognized this door, no one understood how it ended up there, and no one (including Sadfutago himself) could say what had to be done to make the door appear.

According to one theory, Sadfutago is showing a modified version of NieR: Automata. However, the assumption is weak: mods for Automata have not matured to the level of building secret doors with separate areas into the original locations. And even if it is a fake with a modification, then a person must have some very serious tools on his hands - in any case, a landmark event turns out!

Some users speculate that Sadfutago accidentally performed a very specific sequence of actions that the door required. And now he's the only person in the world who's unlocked this secret in NieR: Automata — and Sadfutago doesn't even know how it happened!
