Samsung Galaxy Fold4 will receive less visible under-display camera

The under-display selfie camera was one of the most significant changes made by the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 last year, and Samsung is attempting to improve it even more with the Fold4. According to a tweet from the account @SamsungRydah, which appeared on SamMobile before being deleted by Twitter based on a copyright claim (apparently lending credibility to the leak), the Galaxy Z Fold 4 will fix the UDC's poor invisibility.

The model will use a different arrangement of pixels to make the screen denser, resulting in a 132ppi circle instead of the Galaxy Z Fold 3's 94ppi, according to leaked slides. The result is that the hole should be less apparent, and the text should be less jagged in that area. Unfortunately, based on leaked slides, it's not entirely invisible.

What isn't evident, however, is whether Samsung is also upgrading the camera sensor itself to something greater than just 4MP. Increasing the pixel count of the sensor might help compensate for any negative consequences of using a UDC panel in terms of quality. While the internal camera on the Galaxy Z Fold 3 foldable was adequate for video chats, it didn't meet expectations considering how much they'd paid for the premium phone.
