Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro rugged smartwatch with a titanium case and body temperature sensor for $450
Samsung unveiled its new Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro smartwatches at the Galaxy Unpacked presentation today. There is no Classic version this year, though we already knew that.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro
This is a more advanced and more interesting premium model that looks nothing like last year's Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. The watch has no rotating bezel and is not as massive, but it has a solid titanium case and a sapphire crystal that protects the display. Moreover, the gadget is MIL-STD-810H certified and has IP68 rating and 5ATM water resistance. A sporty D-Buckle strap is completing the look, which is more durable than a silicone strap.
The watch is available in a single 45mm version. It has a 1.4-inch AMOLED display, Exynos W920 processor, 1.5 GB RAM, 16 GB ROM, Bluetooth 5.2, dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), GPS and NFC. There's a 590 mAh battery inside, which should be enough for 80 hours of normal use or 20 hours of continuous GPS use on a single charge. Fast charging is supported - from 0% to 45% in 30 minutes.
The device can measure ECG, heart rate, blood oxygen level, analyze body composition, etc., but most importantly, the manufacturer added a new sensor to measure body temperature and improved BioActive sensor to track sleep.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 5
In general, other 5 series watches have the same features and capabilities, but there are a few differences. This version is available in two sizes (40mm and 44mm) and has a smaller battery capacity (284 mAh for the 40mm version and 410 mAh for the 44mm).
Price
The Galaxy Watch 5 Pro is available with Bluetooth and LTE variants for $450 and $500, respectively. The regular Galaxy Watch 5 costs $280. Pre-orders are available starting today, and sales will start on August 26.
