According to sources, Apple is expected to announce a new low-cost iPad and an updated iPad Pro with the M2 Apple silicon chip as well as possible MagSafe charging capabilities during an event currently scheduled for October of this year, according to a post from the account "yeux1122" on the Korean blog Naver. The account has a good reputation for providing reliable information, as it correctly reported on the fifth-generation iPad Air and unconfirmed information about the iPhone 14. The account has also distributed rumors that have not panned out, such as a purported "iPad mini Pro."

The post claims that the low-cost iPad, which is anticipated to get a major redesign with flat edges and a bigger display, will be available at the same time as a new iPad Pro in October after next month's iPhone 14 event. The future low-cost iPad is anticipated to have an A14 Bionic chip, 5G connectivity, a larger screen, and USB-C connections. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple has already begun manufacturing on the iPhone 14 and Apple Watch Series 8 event for September, suggesting that Apple will hold two events this fall, one of which will be dedicated to the iPad.

In April 2021, Apple released an updated iPad Pro with a 12.9-inch mini-LED display and the M1 Apple silicon chip. The launch of the more powerful iPad Pro with M2 is expected to follow the release of iPadOS 16, which is anticipated to debut in October rather than earlier in the fall. iPadOS 16 includes minor modifications and features for non-M1 iPads, such as improvements in Messages, Safari, and other areas

Apple offers Stage Manager on iPadOS 16 for iPads with M-series chips, which allows people to run several applications in windows over each other and overlap each other with external display support. Aside from the M2 chip's performance and Stage Manager in iPadOS 16, previous rumors claimed that the 2022 iPad Pro would feature MagSafe charging abilities.
