Engineer designed robotic legs for a snake - it liked them

Allen Pan, an engineer from Los Angeles, decided to give snakes the legs back they lost during evolution.

What we know

The design consists of two pairs of legs and a long plastic tube with holes on either side. The legs were modeled from a lizard and printed on a 3D-printer. They are actuated by two servomotors and activated wirelessly.

The engineer tested his design on a toy snake before trying out the mechanism on a live one. In creating the frame, Allen Pan was inspired by the three-toed skink (Chalcides striatus). It is a lizard with four small legs that looks more like a snake.
