This week, Microsoft began rolling out a new system of interactive widgets for Windows 11. While the "old" widgets were mostly static, Microsoft is now adding live animations to them, such as the standard "Weather" widget.

The update will be gradually rolled out to all Windows 11 users. The notifications appear as a live animation on the weather widget in the taskbar and include thunderstorm notifications and even notifications when the stock you're following goes up or down.

"If something important has happened in a widget you've added, you'll see an announcement from that widget on the taskbar," Microsoft explains.
