Digital versions of Project Cars 1&2 can no longer be purchased. The reason was the exhausted license agreement for the tracks and cars
Slightly Mad Studios has announced that digital versions of Project Cars 1&2 can no longer be purchased.
What else is known?
The game's Twitter page said the reason is the licensing agreements for running out of tracks and cars. Project Cars 2 will leave the digital storefronts on September 21, while the first part will leave on October 3.
However, the developers noted that the games will continue to be supported. Those players, who have had time to buy the game, will be able to arrange online races without any problems. Note that this news does not affect Project Cars 3, there with the licenses everything is fine.
The original Project Cars was released in 2015 and was supposed to be an analogue of Forza Horizon and Gran Turismo. The game featured 74 officially licensed cars and 23 race tracks. Project Cars 2 was released in 2017 and was a worthy sequel to the original game. The last installment, Project Cars 3, was released in 2020 and is available on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
