An Australian resident named Thevamanogari Manivel found herself in a situation that many would want to be in, but seven months later, she was caught up in trouble.

Here's What We Know

In May 2021, the cryptocurrency exchange Crypto.com transferred A$10.5 million ($7.2 million) to a woman from Australia instead of A$100 ($68). The mistake became known only seven months later, but the client had already spent some of the money received.

Tevamanogari Manivel decided not to report that she had received 105,000 times the funds. Instead, she wired the money into an account and purchased a huge house worth about A$1.3 million ($900,000) for her sister.

Crypto.com is determined to recover the funds sent in error. Another court hearing is scheduled for October 2022. The exchange has already been able to get the account frozen. In addition, the Supreme Court of Victoria ordered the Australian to sell her house and return the money with interest.
