It's official: Apple ceases production and sales of the Apple Watch Series 3
After today's presentation, Apple officially confirmed that it is discontinuing the Apple Watch Series 3 smartwatch, which debuted in 2017. As we wrote earlier, the company's official stores are now selling out their remaining stock of the gadget.
That's no surprise: The Apple Watch Series 3 is outdated, and it's being replaced by better new models. The watch has never been known for its high performance, and compared to today's Apple Watch models, it was noticeably weaker. Moreover, they will not get the new version of the operating system watchOS 9 - it will be available for the Series 4 and newer models.
As a reminder, the Apple Watch Series 3 recently was sold for $199. So now the most affordable smartwatch in Apple's range is the new Apple Watch SE 2nd generation for $249.
