Ukraine has created a unique air defense system, but still needs NASAMS and IRIS-T
Ukraine's air defense system is improving every day, but the Defense Forces still need foreign anti-aircraft missile systems.
Here's What We Know
This was stated by the speaker of the Air Force Command Yuri Ignat. According to him, Ukraine was able to create a unique system of anti-aircraft defense, which no other country has. The defense forces use Soviet air defense means and various tactical systems.
Anti-aircraft missile systems and fighter jets are used to counter enemy missiles. In addition, there are servicemen with portable anti-aircraft missile systems all over Ukraine.
At the same time, the existing air defense system should be strengthened with modern Western weapons. In particular, Ukraine should soon receive German IRIS-T surface-to-air missile systems together with Norwegian NASAMS. In addition, we should not forget that earlier this year Germany and Great Britain handed over anti-aircraft tanks Gepard and Stormer HVM respectively.
