GM unveils Chevrolet Equinox EV crossover from $30,000 - one of the cheapest electric cars in the U.S.
General Motors has announced the electric crossover Chevrolet Equinox EV for the 2024 model year. It has become one of the cheapest electric cars on the U.S. market.
Here's What We Know
The Chevrolet Equinox EV is built on the General Motors Ultium platform. The cheapest version of the car is equipped with an engine that produces 210 horsepower and has a range of 400 km. The company will also sell versions with a range of 450 km and 480 km. The all-wheel drive version has two electric engines with a total capacity of 290 horsepower.
Battery capacity is not specified. Judging by the fact that the car will have different mileage, we can expect versions with different batteries. Maximum charging capacity will be 150 kW. According to the manufacturer, 10 minutes of charging will provide a range of more than 110 km.
The Chevrolet Equinox EV will start at $30,000. Most modifications of the car will go on sale in 2024. In the fall of 2023, motorists will only be able to buy the 2RS Limited Edition. Production of the Equinox EV will start in Mexico at the General Motors plant in Ramos Arizpe. By the way, a gasoline version of the car for the U.S. market is also going to be assembled there.
