HMS Queen Elizabeth sailed to the United States to replace the disabled HMS Prince of Wales before European exercises
The British Royal Navy has sent the aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth to the United States ahead of a European exercise.

On September 7, HMS Queen Elizabeth left Portsmouth and headed for the east coast of the United States. The departure of the aircraft carrier had not originally been planned, but Royal Navy leaders had to make adjustments to plans due to the breakdown of the aircraft carrier HMS Prince of Wales.
HMS Queen Elizabeth will take part in the Atlantic Future Forum. Along with the aircraft carrier the frigate HMS Richmond will sail across the Atlantic. After returning to Europe HMS Queen Elizabeth will take part in NATO exercises, the decision to hold which was made after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The work of the British aircraft carrier will be mainly focused on operations in the Baltics. The UK will also cooperate with forces from Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden.
HMS Queen Elizabeth was commissioned in late 2017. The aircraft carrier is 284 m long, 56 m high and 73 m wide. The ship can reach speeds of up to 46.3 km/h. The air wing includes up to 24 F-35B deck fighters with increased wing area.
