At the end of the State of Play 2022 presentation, Sony showed a story trailer for the upcoming PlayStation exclusive God of War Ragnarok. In the trailer you can see new enemies: a mermaid, secret fire tentacles, a huge jellyfish and a creature that is a hybrid of a dragon and a crocodile. And several Scandinavian gods: Tyr, Thor and Fenrir. Meanwhile, Kratos and his son Atreus are still in a strained relationship and learning to trust each other.

Here's What We've Seen

The trailer also showed gods and creatures from the previous game. For example, you can see Freya again, who wants to take revenge on Kratos and Atreus. Valkyries, dark elves and Hel-Walkers, familiar to fans of the series, have not disappeared, and players will have to fight with them again in a new journey.

The Plot of the Game

Kratos and Atreus must travel to all nine worlds and find answers while the armies of Asgard prepare for the alleged battle that will end the universe. They will visit mythical lands and face fearless enemies, Norse gods and monsters. Atreus also craves knowledge that will help him unravel the prophecy of "Loki" and understand what his fate is when Ragnarok comes. Kratos must decide: to succumb to the fear of not repeating the mistakes of the past that continue to bind him, or to escape from his nightmarish memories and become the father that Atreus needs.

Gameplay

The trailer also showed fragments of the gameplay. Players will be able to use the daggers of chaos, the Leviathan axe, the shield and combine it all into deadly combinations that will help destroy all enemies that get in the way. You can also see new fabulous locations that fascinate and battles with bosses, about which there are no details.

Flashback

God of War Ragnarok is a direct sequel to God of War (2018). The project is developed by Santa Monica studio. The events unfold in Scandinavian mythology and tell about the plight of the former Greek god of war Kratos, who moved to Scandinavia, started a family and is trying to become a real father to his young son Atreus. However, the trauma of the past does not allow Kratos to step over himself.

Game Release Date

God of War Ragnarok will release on November 9, 2022 exclusively for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
