The Reuters news agency has reported that Germany will transfer a new batch of MARS II missile systems and additional ammunition to Ukraine. This was announced by German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht.

Here's What We Know

It should be noted at once that the new batch of multiple rocket launchers will be small. So, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive two more MARS II in addition to the three rocket systems that Germany sent at the end of the summer.

The modern MLRSs will not go to Ukraine with empty launchers. Together with MARS II Germany will also send 200 high-precision guided missiles GMLRS of 227 mm caliber, which have a maximum launch range of 84 km.

Flashback

MARS II is a certified European version of the American M270 MLRS multiple rocket launcher. It uses the same projectiles as the M142 HIMARS, but has two containers instead of one, i.e. can launch 12 rockets in one salvo, not six. And the tracked chassis makes MARS II less mobile than HIMARS.
