Romania will refuse to use Russian antiviruses in the public sector
The Romanian government has approved a bill on the protection of information systems of public sector organizations. It involves the rejection of Russian anti-viruses.
Here's What We Know
Romania is ready to give up antivirus software developed in Russia for fear of cyber attacks on government institutions. Officials refer to the words of experts who say that the presence of Russian anti-viruses puts at risk the safe functioning of the Romanian authorities and public sector organizations.
Romania is not a pioneer in this regard. All European Union countries now have recommendations to reject software that is related to the Russian Federation. It is believed that with the help of such software, Russia will be able to carry out cyber attacks. However, the measure may turn out to be temporary. It is possible that Romania and other EU countries will lift the restrictions after Ukraine wins.
State institutions must replace the Russian software within 60 days from the entry into force of the law. First of all, we are talking about products and services of the company "Kaspersky Lab". There will be fines for violation of the law.
