After the Grand Theft Auto VI data leak, Rockstar studio was supported by dozens of game creators to show their unity and encourage developers
Published gameplay footage and source code of Grand Theft Auto VI became a real shock not only for Rockstar, but for the whole gaming industry. One can only imagine what Rockstar developers and Take-Two bosses are feeling now, who have not yet made official statements about the situation. Against this background, many developers decided to support the team, because this is not the first studio that suffers from leaks of its games long before the release, or at least the announcement. Here we decided to collect the developers' statements, with which they officially decided to support Rockstar studio.
Details
Dozens of different developers from around the world have expressed their support for the studio, here are some of them:
Josh Sawye, Game Director of Fallout: New Vegas
"Game leaks suck. Whether it’s information or assets/footage, it’s all bad. Devs can’t really address it in a productive way and it’s incredibly demoralizing and disruptive for the team. Pentiment misinfo leaked and we’re still undoing that damage. And that leak was *tiny*."
Paweł Sasko, Quest Director of Cyberpunk 2077
"Dread to think what the Rockstar team is going through right now. Years of work are now being shredded, torn apart, analized, misunderstood, taken out of context, and memed. A destructive cycle games industry knows way too well. Help to make it better and don't engage with leaks."
Neil Druckmann, Creative Director of Naughty Dog
"To my fellow devs out there affected by the latest leak, know that while it feels overwhelming right now, it’ll pass. One day we’ll be playing your game, appreciating your craft, and the leaks will be relegated to a footnote on a Wikipedia page. Keep pushing. Keep making art." Radek Grabowski, PR Director, CD Projekt RED
"A friendly reminder that video game leaks usually excite everyone but the folks who are affected by these leaks. Such situations are always extremely stressful for people, who put their heart into developing their projects. I feel very sorry every time such stuff happens."
Cory Barlog, Game Director of God of War
"I hate fucking leaks.""
John Epler, Creative Director of Dragon Age: Dreadwolf
"Leaks suck. Not just for the big corporation but for everyone whose work just went out unfinished."
Famous gaming journalist Jason Schreier explained why the data leak is bad:
"To those who asked: There are several reasons this is a nightmare for Rockstar. One is that it'll disrupt work for a while. Another is that it may lead management to limit work-from-home flexibility. The repercussions of this leak might not be clear for quite a while"..."To those who asked: There are several reasons this is a nightmare for Rockstar. One is that it'll disrupt work for a while. Flashback
On September 18, on the site gtaforums a hacker published dozens of gameplay footage of the upcoming GTA VI and its source code. And the famous game journalist Jason Schreier confirmed that the footage is real. Currently, most of the videos on YouTube have been removed, as well as the page with this information on gtaforums.
We will not distribute any footage related to GTA VI and hope that Rockstar will quickly find the strength to move on!
