Ukraine's R18 strike drones continue to justify every hryvnia invested in them. Or a dollar. Even the most profitable companies can envy the efficiency of invested funds.

Here's What We Know

Aerorozvidka, a Ukrainian non-profit organization, claims that every $1 spent on drones turns into $670 in losses for the Russian army. The strike drone itself costs approximately $20,000. R18 drones have destroyed $130,000,000,000 worth of Russian military equipment since Feb. 24, 2022. Specifically, approximately 30 BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicles cost $1,000,000 each.

Flashback

The R18 is a Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle that the military was involved in developing. The project began in 2017, and in 2019 the multicopter began bombarding enemies on the front lines. After Russia's full-scale invasion, the first use of the UAVs was at Gostomel airport.

It can resist enemy electronic warfare and is equipped with a thermal imaging camera that allows it to operate at night. To attack, the R18 uses RKG-3 shaped anti-tank grenades or RKG-1600 bombs.
