Tonight the United States of America took to the skies one of the rarest and most unique aircraft, the RC-135S Cobra Ball. They are usually used to monitor Soviet intercontinental ballistic missiles, that is, nuclear weapons. The AFU StratCom (AFU StratCom) reports this in its Telegram channel.

There are only 3 units of such aircraft in the U.S. armament, they were not produced anymore. At one time there were four, but one crashed.

The RC-135 is a family of large strategic reconnaissance aircraft built by the U.S. corporation The Boeing Company and upgraded by various companies. Since their acceptance into service in the 1960s, they have participated in all military operations involving the U.S. Army: Vietnam, Yugoslavia, Iraq, etc. Last December the RC-135 Rivet Joint strategic reconnaissance aircraft of the US Air Force flew for the first time in the sky over Ukraine: it circled over different regions for over 6 hours.
