Thanks to the 87th issue of GameCenter magazine, it became known that Asobo Studio did not plan to make a sequel to A Plague Tale. The open ending in A Plague Tale: Innocence was made for greater authenticity, which eventually led to the development of Requiem.

Here's What We Know

This was told by Kevin Choteau, game director of Asobo Studio. The developers were focused only on making the first game. They did not even think about creating a sequel.

The studio made an open ending, not a classic happy ending where everything is resolved. This gave the team a good starting point to work on the sequel, where they could freely develop the fate of the characters.

Choteau also said that the studio was happy to take on the sequel, it gave them the opportunity to revisit all the gameplay and take on new challenges, as well as take into account the feedback the studio received from players.

Flashback

Asobo Studio is already on the home stretch in the development of a direct sequel to A Plague Tale with the subtitle Requiem. Six months have passed in the world of the game since the events of Innocence. Amicia and Hugo head south in search of a new and peaceful life. But adventures have caught up with the sister and brother again. Hugo's illness has worsened, and Amicia must go with him to a secret island that may hold the key to curing her younger brother. The world is becoming more cruel, distorted, and rats are only increasing. Along with this, weapons, tools, magic and variations of enemy destruction have increased.

When We Can Expect It

A Plague Tale: Requiem is scheduled for October 18 on XBOX Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC.
