Google Photos started corrupting old photos en masse
Service for storing photos and videos Google Photos began to spoil old images. Users began to complain en masse about ruined photos.
Here's What We Know
Users who wanted to feel nostalgic by scrolling through pictures in Google Photos found that the service has corrupted many old photos. In particular, we're talking about photos that have been stored for about 5-10 years.
People have begun to report en masse about the appearance of lines, deep "cracks", distorted areas or blurring in photos from years ago. White spots are also common. And no pattern has been established yet.
Problems occur regardless of the version of the operating system and on the web version of the service. Users note that distortions are visible not only in Google Photos. They remain even after saving the photo to smartphone memory. Google Takeout also does not help.
Google has not commented on the problem yet.
